This Chasen Lamp was made for the latter.

The Shape of This Lamp

The shape of this lamp was inspired by the chasen—the bamboo whisk used in Japanese tea ceremony.
The chasen was shaped by its purpose: to whisk tea.
Its form was born out of necessity,
and that very necessity became its beauty.

Not made as decoration,
but as a tool that quietly accompanies everyday life—
always close to people’s hands.
That way of being is what this lamp aspires to reflect.

The Light of This Lamp

The light of this lamp isn’t made to brighten a room.
It’s made to live with the darkness.

Soft like moonlight,
or the glow of snow at night,
it can be adjusted to a brightness just enough to read by.

Instead of a touch sensor,
a small brass knob lets your fingers remember
the “just right” light for the moment.

Materials and Making

The shade of this lamp is created with a 3D printer,
layering strands of plastic as thin as 0.6 mm.
Each subtle ripple and fluctuation remains,
leaving a gentle, handmade expression on the surface.

No two are exactly the same—
each one carries a quiet sense of intimacy,
as if crafted by hand.

Made from plant-based PLA,
the filament blends natural powders such as seashell and wheat husk,
adding a soft, organic texture to the light.

About Safety

This lamp operates on USB-C power, without using high voltage.
It follows the same standard commonly used for laptops and smartphones,
so it can be used safely and easily—no special equipment required.

The base is made from flame-retardant, heat-resistant materials (PLA/ABS),
chosen for everyday peace of mind.
As something meant to live close to you,
it’s designed with safety and calm in mind, even in the unlikely event of trouble.
